James T. Acy

James T. Acy, 81 of Black Hawk, died March 16, 2001 of cancer at his residence. Mr. Acy was a lifelong resident of Carroll County, and he was retired from Yazoo Valley Oil Mill after 30 years. Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18 at Williams and Lord Chapel in Greenwood with Rev. Bud Daves officiating and Father Hillary Brezenskie assisting. Burial was in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Minnie L. Acy of Black Hawk; one son, Bobby Ray Acy of Black Hawk; five brothers, Marvin Acy, Thomas Acy Jr., Alvin (Mike) Acy, Charles Acy,and Freeman Acy; four sisters, Catherine Algord, Selene Prince, Nila Steen, and Ila Shute; four grandchildren, Sylvia Hamrick, Kirn Young, Raymond Acy, and Barry Acy;and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Acy Sr., and one sister.

Pallbearers were Mike Acy, Scott Acy, Walter Compton, Milton Farrish, Bubba Leigh and Danny Prince.

Honorary pallbearers were Lee Flowers Hamrick IV, John David Young Jr., Christopher Dalton Acy, Hunter Hood Acy, Peyton Word Acy, and Thomas Colby Acy.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at Rt. 1 Box 183, Coila, MS 38923.
