The following clipping will be of interest to some of the older inhabitants of Denver and vicinity. Caleb P Adams was "bound out" to Mr. Leedy when he was ten years old. Mr Leedy lived in the neighborhood of Deedsville.
--------------------

Last Thursday night at Glen Lake sanitorium, Minneapolis occurred the death of C.P. Adams for many years a resident of this vicinity. His remains were brought to Elysian Monday for the interment in the family lot at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The funeral was quite largely attended by relatives and old friends of the deceased. The service at the grave was conducted by Rev.Kenney, with the assistance of the Methodist Choir.
Mr Adams had been in failing health during the past year. Since he returned from Florida the latter part of April an atlliction of the knee which prevented him from getting about as usual would not yield to treatment and this caused him much trouble. For some weeks it was realized that there was little chance for his recovery, but when the final summons came it was the end of a long and useful life of 81 years and 3 months. Old acquaintances and friends of the deceased in this community will long honor his memory as a courteous gentleman of uplifting influence whom it was at all times a pleasure to meet and many of us will miss the kindly greetings which Mr.Adams always extended on his visits to his old home here.
Caleb P.Adams was born March 23 1840 near Peru Indiana. He was married December 25,1864 to Mary Ann Hutchison whose death occurred September 16,1912 at Minneapolis. He served his country more than three years as a member of Co.D.29th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and at the close of the war, came to Elysian and first located on the farm later know as the David Jewell Place. About 1866 Mr.and Mrs. Adams settled on the homestead now owned by their son S.R.Adams and that was their home until 1891 when they moved to Minneapolis; with the exception of one year spent in Elysian when Mr.Adams conducted a meat market in the village.
Since the death of his wife Mr.Adams has passed the winter in Florida, but spent several weeks every summer on the old homestead west of town, while renewing acquaintances in this community. Deceased was the last of his family, three brothers and two sisters having preceded him to the ??? sons,Elmer E.Adams of Mission,Texas;Schuyler R.Adams of Elysian; and Arthur T.Adams of Minneapolis- The Elysian Enterprise, Friday July 1
