Funeral services for Archie E. Rushing Sr., 71, were held at ten o'clock Saturday morning November 3, from the family home at Foxworth.
The Rev. G.K. Allen, pastor of the Foxworth Methodist Church and the Rev. John Oakes, pastor of the Foxworth Baptist Church, took part in the rites.
Interment was in the Foxworth cemetery under direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Columbia, with nephews of the deceased as pallbearers.
Mr. Rushing was born at Tylertown May 28, 1880, however had resided for the past twenty-five years at Foxworth. He was a brick mason in his more active years. He passed away Friday, November 2, (1951) at an early hour at his home after an illness of about a year.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Amanda Cagle Rushing; five children, Mrs. S.C. Johnson, Route 2, Columbia, Claude Rushing, Mobile, Ala., Mrs Ettress Taylor, New Orleans, La., Mrs Sennett Singley, Route 2, Sumrall, and Archie Rushing Jr., Picayune; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Also had a daughter Ava Lurleen Rushing b1918 d 1921 burial unknown at this time.

Archie married four times. His first three wives all died in childbirth, leaving no living children.
1) 21 Feb 1904 Myrtis Elizabeth Boyd (dau. of Asa Boyd & Mary Louise Estess) Myrtis died before the end of that year.
2) 16 Dec 1904 Mittie Anne Jones (dau. of Marion "Harve" Jones & Mary Ann "Annie" Gartman.
3) 3 March 1908 Ella Kemp (dau. of Thomas "Green" Kemp & Nancy Strickland)
4) 19 June 1912 Amanda Cagle who bore him four known children.
