H.A. was married to Bertha Ebers in 1878 in Grassyvile, Lee County, Texas. In 1891, the family moved to Lexington and began farming. It was not long, however, before Mr. Grusendorf obtained ownership of a grist-mill in Lexington which he continued operating until a short time before his death in 1939, when he sold it to a son-in-law, B.H. Retzlaff. The Grusendorf family has a long record of active membership in the Methodist Church, Henry and Bertha being among the first members of the German Methodist Church in Lexington.
The children born to this union were: seven daughters: Emma, Alice, Mary, Louise, Clara, Bettie, and Linda; and three sons, Will, Henry, and Arthur. Mrs. Clara Lee Brewer, daughter of Alice Grusendorf Hillegeist, and her children, Jan and Bobby, are the only descendents, nonw (1974) living in Lee County.
