Roslyn "Rosie" Arbutus Merica, 45, of 111 Virginia Avenue, Shenandoah died of cancer Saturday evening, August 12, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital,where she had been a patient for a month.
Mrs. Merica was born May 7, 1933 in Page County and was a daughter of Crimora Meadows of Shenandoah and the late Alfred Thomas Meadows.
She was a member of the Shenandoah Baptist Church.
On April 23, 1953, she married Robert L. Merica,who survives.
In addition to her mother and husband,surviving are four sons,Robert Lee Merica Jr,of Stanley and Richard Lee, Gregory Charles and Jeffery A. Merica all at home;four brothers,Robert Meadows and Franklin Meadows both of Elkton and Kenneth Meadows and Delbert Meadows,both of Shenandoah,and five sisters,Jean Snow of Elkton,Anna Dean of Grottoes and Ruth Croft,Velva Hughes and Iva Shifflett,all of Shenandoah.
The funeral was conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday,August 15, at the Warren G. Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah by the Reverend Hudson Nuckols.
Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Shenandoah.
The family received friends Monday, August 14, at the funeral home.
Friends called at the Merica home.
Pallbearers were George Hamilton,Roy Grimsley,Bill Meadows,Timmy Eppard,Junior Gordon and Sam Shomo.
