She was born on Aug. 12, 1917, in Colchester, Ill., to Fred Gilbert and Bertha Mae Sanford Hoyt. She married James Otho Holstine on April 21, 1937, in Monmouth. He passed away on March 20, 1986.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Eloise Caspall; one son-in-law, Howard Clark; and two brothers, Robert and Richard Hoyt.
She is survived by four daughters, Eileen (John) Zimmerman of Cuba, Beth (Jerry) Biswell of Colchester, Nancy (Richard) Lacy of Colchester and Evelyn (Orval) Hagan of Colchester; one son-in-law, Fred Caspall of Macomb; 14 grandchildren, Debi Caspall, Laura Cripe, Brad, Brent and Sonya Clark, Shawn McCue, Tim Biswell, Stephanie Bryan, Amie Weir, Anthony and Matthew Lacy, Ryan Hagan, John Zimmerman and Julie Munson; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two expected great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Blondell (Barb) Hoyt of Macomb; and two sisters, Lois (Alvin) Curtis of Macomb and Miriam (Merlin) Lefler of Macomb.
She lived in Bethel Township on the family farm all of her life, where they had many family reunions.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and American Baptist Women and served as president. She was a trustee at the church and was on the flower committee. She organized and taught the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, did mission work at the church and was a leader and organizer for activities at the church.
She was well known for her pie making and she had made a pie for her brother the day before she entered the hospital.
Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery south of Fandon.
