On Friday, November 2, 2001, the angel of silence entered Halifax Regional Hospital and sealed the eyelids of our beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt Brenda Dixon King.
Mrs. King was born in Halifax County, VA on October 13, 1955 and was the daughter of the late James Medley and Mary Dixon. She was a member of the Banister Hill Baptist Church where she served on the church's Gospel Choir. She loved to sing and on many occasions was ready to serve where the need arose. She was educated in the public schools system of Halifax County and was a certified nursing assistant. She was also active with the South Boston Recreational Department as a basketball coach. For a short time, she served on the Ladies Auxiliary of the South Boston Fire Department. Mrs. King was preceded in death by one daughter, Alicia N. Dixon, and one brother, Carnell Medley. She is survived by her husband: James L. "J.L." King; three sons, Gregory E. Dixon, Dominic R. King, and Brian L. King; her grandmother; Mrs. Janie Dixon; three sisters, Mrs. Earlene Ballou, Mrs. Dorothy Coleman, and Mrs. Christine Medley; two brothers, David Medley, and James Medley; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Olivia Duncan and husband Clarence Duncan; her father-in-law, James W. Bouldin; her grandmother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Royster; a stepmother, Mrs. Ethel Medley; six sisters-in-law; nine brothers-in-law; a special niece, Mrs. Angela Jeffress; devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Jeffress and Ms. Dorothy Burrell; and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
