Harley was likely given up for adoption between the time of his father's death and his mothers marriage to Benjamin Clifford. 1910 Federal Census for Seville, Gratiot Co., Michigan shows Martha and Benjamin only. Harley would have been 21.

William Harrison Sage was about 2 years old when his father, Julius M. Sage died. (There was a huge age difference between Julius and Martha.)It is probable that his mother remarried ? Seamon and he adoped William. They called him by a nickname from Harrison "Harley". Looking for information on this marriage.

It is noted here that William was adopted shortly after his father's death and carried the surname Seamon, However, no records found to date to back this. William carried the name surname Sage on his draft registration in 1942, and is listed as William Sage on the obituary for his half sister Nancy Jane (Cummings) Sheffield also in 1942.
