Obituary for Joseph Lindsey Keener. Democrat Messenger. Waynesburg, Pa. May 19, 1936.

Abstract--Joseph Lindsey Keener, 72, well know retired cattleman, died May 15, 1936, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Forney M. Gapen, of Dilliner. He was a son of Joseph P. and Nancy Kincaid Keener, of Morgantown, W.Va., he was born July 18, 1864, in Monongalia Co. In May 1886, he married Miss Flora Ross, daughter of Josiah and Jane VanVoorhis Ross. She died in 1924, and later he married Margaret Devine, of Johnstown, whose death occurred in March 1936. He is survived by one son, John Ross Keener, of Oil City; one daughter, Mrs. Forney M. Gapen, of Dilliner; one brother, Grover Keener, in Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Joseph L. Gans, of Morgantown, W.Va. He was preceded in death by three brothers, W. W. Keener, county commissioner of Monongalia County, who died last March, Dr. George I. Keener, of Grafton, W.Va., who died about four years ago, and John F. Keener, of Morgantown, W.Va., who died three years ago. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Taylortown.
