Matt Hampton
Matthew Hampton was born to Rachel and Andrew Hampton July 29, 1849, in Filly Cathe, Ross county, Ohio. When he was 6 his family came to Pierce county, Wis.
Sept. 11, 1873, he married Amelia Rudesill. To them were born 10 children, five of whom preceded him in death.
They made their home in the town of Gilman for 23 years. From there they moved to the town of Cady, where he died Nov. 5, 1936. Surviving are his widow and three sons and two daughters - Mrs. Carl Rolstad, of Spring Valley, Mrs. Alfred Helgeson, of Woodville, Chester, Jay, of Spring Valley, and Leon, at home.
