Mrs. Hess was born September 2, 1942, in York, and was the daughter of the late Carl Sr. and Pauline H. (Garver) Demmitt.
She had previously worked for First Capital Credit Union, Peoples Bank, and then retired as a supervisor with the York Housing Authority after 12 years.
She enjoyed going to Hollywood Casino, yard sales, playing bingo, collecting salt and pepper shakers, painting ceramics, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hess is survived by a son, Bradley A. Hess of Spring Grove; four grandchildren, Bryanne Hess of Spring Grove, Barry Hess, III of West York, and Bekka and Andrew Hess, both of Top Sail Island, N.C.; a sister, Carol Zeager and husband, Reuben, Jr. of York; a brother, Carl Demmitt, Jr. and wife, Victoria of York; and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death two sons, Barry A. Hess, Jr. and Bryan Allen Hess.
