Mrs. Bales was born in Tennessee Aug. 23, 1828. Her maiden name was Margaret Bible. Soon after her marriage she and Mr. Bales moved to farm near Mt Zion. Later they lived on a farm south of Macon and still later near Shelbyville. Mr. Bales bought the Cassell farm near Decatur thirteen years ago and they have lived there ever since Mr. Bales died four years ago.
Mrs. Bales is survived by three sons and three daughters: D.C. Bales of Hume, J.A. Bales of Mattoon, C.A. Bales of near Decatur, Mrs. Mary Wilson of LaPlace, Mrs. Ellen Davis of Stafford, Kan, and Mrs. Fannie Blythe of LaPlace. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Decatur and had many friends here.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 Saturday morning at the residence. The interment will be in the Mt. Gilead cemetery.
