DIED -- Mrs. Louise Baer, wife of J C Baer, on Friday, June 15, 1883, aged 36 years. The death of Mrs. Baer was announced in the MAIL on the next day, and since we have been enabled to learn much that is interesting concerning the past history of this most estimable lady from her most intimate friends in Canon City, where she resided thirteen years, previous to the removal of the family to this city in December last.

Mrs. Baer was born in Painsville, Pa., and was married to Mr. Baer in Laport County, Ind., Aug. 16th, 1865, soon after his return from the Union Army at the close of the war. After their marriage Mr. Baer with his young bride removed to Minnesota, where they remained for a short time, then emigrated to Nebraska, where they resided till 1867, and in the same year again took up their line of march for the then territory of Colorado, locating in Huerfano County. Fort Reynolds then being a distributing point for the Interior department, Mr. Baer filled the position of distributing clerk for the government. Severing his connection with the department he removed to Rock Canon bridge, seven miles west of Pueblo, where he engaged in the stock business for a time. Closing up his business at this point he removed to Canon City, where he remained till the fall of 1882, when he removed to Salida with his family.

During their residence in Canon City three children were born -- Willie, an intelligent, lad of fourteen, Harry Clyde, who died at the age of five, and little Mande, now a bright and lovely little girl of five, whose very life it seems is made up of sunshine, a counterpart of the life of the noble mother in whose death she has lost the guidingspirit, the directing hand, the loving counsel, and the tender care of her, who alone could mould her young and tender heart into that perfect type of a noble and true womanhood.

Though Mrs. Baer had made but few acquaintances here, we learn from

Canon City friends that she had a large circle of acquaintainces there and that she was held in high esteem, as was evidenced by the large number of citizens who assembled in that city to pay to her the last tribute of respect.

She was a member of the Baptist church in Canon City, uniting with that church some two years since, and led an exemplary and devoted life.
