OBITUARY :
JOSEPH R. HESS, 92, Zullinger, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday in Waynesboro Hospital.

Born in Rouzerville March 16, 1883, Mr. Hess was a son of the late John W. and Emma Rouzer Hess. He had farmed in the Ringgold and Five Forks areas, retiring in 1948, after which he moved to Zullinger and was employed by Hess Orchards. His wife, Elsie Gardenhour Hess, died in September, 1963. He was a member of Solomon's Lutheran Church of Grindstone Hill.

Surviving are these daughters and sons: Mrs. Pearl McKenzie, Waynesboro R. 3; Mrs. Aileen Stine and Mrs. Catherine Stover, both of Waynesboro; Mrs. Sinona Wishard and J. Austin Hess, both of Waynesboro R. 2; Mrs. Marie Burkholder and Mrs. Jean Spitzer, both of Alexandria, Va.; Mrs. Leah Bell Hoover, Mont Alto; Melvin Hess, Chambersburg R. 8; Mrs. Dorothy Bonebrake, Abbottstown R. 1; 26 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; a sister Mrs. Rhoda Diehl, Ringgold.

The funeral was held at 3:30 p.m. today in the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro in charge of Rev. Ernest N. Bauer and Rev. Ralph Wenger. Burial was in Ringgold Cemetery.

Children: Anna E. Hess, Aileen R. Hess married John H. Stine, J. Austin Hess married Nellie Stoops, Leah Belle Hess married Earl Hoover, Melvin Hess, Jean Hess, Dorothy Hess Bonebrake, Pearl Hess, Catherine Hess married Glenn G. Stover, Winoa Hess married Hugh D. "Hood" Wishard and Marie Hess Wishard.
