Mrs. Andrew Wilhelm

Mrs. Andrew Wilhelm died just past 12 o'clock midnight on Thursday, April 10, 1930; she was better known by her friends as Josie. Her maiden name was Josephine Weeks.

She married Andrew Wilhelm Feb. 20, 1902, at Wilson, Wis. To them came Leon, Earl, Irene, Olive, Ruth and Paul.

Besides her devoted husband and beloved children she leaves her mother, Mrs. Matilda Weeks, and brothers and sisters, Pearl, Alex, Robert and Ernest and Mrs. Self.

Mrs. Wilhelm was not only considerate of her family, but loved the folks at New Centerville, expressing it by giving a sociable at her home last fall, to be happy with them while she had the strength, and everybody enjoyed it. Down in our hearts we can feel that it must have cost her pain and joy mingled, pain for herself in suffering, but joy for those in good health. It comforted her to know that she did what she could.

Two of the children have Bible names: Ruth, named after Ruth the gleaner in the fields of Boaz; Paul named after the untiring missionary - who brought the Gospel to us in the West, instead of his going to Asia. Not all solders are on the battle fields; but those who suffer and bear their sorrow at home by the grace of Christ that was the kind of a soldier Mrs. Wilhelm was. She did not complain; she knew and felt a power that was above human aid. It was the resilience on the Great Physician, Jesus, "She fought the good fight; she has finished her course."

She picked pall bearers and the songs she wished to have, and her wishes were carried out in all details. Death is but the path that must be trod by man if he would pass to God.

A boy was met one day by his Pastor and the Pastor said, "How are you?" The boy looked rather sullen, and the Pastor said, knowing the boy's father had just died, "You must have faith in God." The boy said, "I do not care for God; he had no right to take my father while he was so young." Then the Pastor changed the subject and noticed the boys's tomatoes saying, "What are you doing with the tomato plants?" "Transplanting them", said the boy, "Why?" "Well" said the boy, now interested, "When I transplant them they have a shock, and have to re-adjust themselves in their new station, and send out new small rootlets which feed the plant and strengthen its whole life." "See" said the pastor: "God transplants people in certain ways so they will go stronger if they can endure the shock, and strengthen their "whole life." "Now I see a new light on the subject," said the boy as the Pastor began to leave. And as they shook hands he invited the Pastor to call again. The reading of "Crossing the Bar" by the Pastor ended the church service, and the burial services were terminated at the grave.
