Mary (Hudson) Dodd's family history remains unidentified, to the best of writer's knowledge. The only clue to her identity is a note in the Saratoga County Historian's Office in their Dodd file. This story stated that William Henry Dodd was disowned by his family for marrying a woman of low birth from the country. Story is that William fell in love with Mary Hudson when she visited his father's shop to trade. William thought Mary was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. So they married and immigrated to America in 1806. And it is said he never spoke of his family again. He supposedly brought a large sum of money, $10,000, with which to relocate.
