Obituary for Elias Cherry.

Elias V. Cherry was born near Columbus,Ohio in 1837. He came to Cincinnati in 1855 and worked as a hardware clerk. In 1861 he enlisted in the Thirteenth Missouri Infantry but was transferred to the Twenty-Second Ohio which consolidated with the 63rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was commissioned First Lieutenant and later became First Division Quartermaster and then Corp Quartermaster. He resigned March 1,1863 due to illness. He married his first wife, Emma Miles Hamlin in 1863. They had two daughters, Katie and Laura Belle. Laura Belle married Charles Theodore Greve. They also had a child who died at birth in 1864. Emma died in 1872 and in 1876 he married Anna Hill. E.V. worked for the L.C. and L. Railroad from 1870 to 1876 he became Vice President of Post & Co. He bought out their electrical business which he ran under the name Standard Electrical Works till he died. He was also active in politics and served as commissioner for Industrial Expositions for several years. He died in Denver,CO, where he went for his health, on Dec. 17,1899
