[Note: I placed Mary in the Woody-Richards cemetery on the basis of Glenna Garnand Garner's domumentation of the cemetery which stated there to be four graves w/o dates: one marked "Mother", one "Father", and two with rock markers without names. Since there are so many of David & Mary's children interred there, I believe them to be buried there also.]

Mary was born to Abednego Hodges [1758-1842] and his wife Sallie Keen [1765-1837]. She married David Richards July 21 1818 in Franklin County VA, just 6.4 miles south east of Rocky Mount.

Mary lived as a widow for many years, but raised her children faithfully. She must have suffered a lot of emotional stress having lost her husband David so early on, then having four sons in the Civil War, and losing two of those [Josiah and King David].
