Lamont Edgar McCleery 1/17/1927 ~ 9/2/2009 Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and soon to be great-great-grandfather, Lamont McCleery, 82, returned to his Heavenly Father peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born of goodly parents, Walter Edgar and Eva Rozella Forbush McCleery, he is remembered for his strong will, and hard-working ethics. A loyal man, well-known and respected, his personality radiated. He was loved by family, friends, and all who knew him. Born and raised in Murray, he married his eternal friend and companion, Barbara Dawn Nelson, in the Salt Lake Temple, May 15, 1947. They were married 62 years. Together they had 11 children, raising their family in Union, now residing in Sandy. He taught his children by precept and example; loved the Savior and lived his life accordingly; was honored to have served his country in the Naval Reserve during World War II; and was very patriotic throughout his life. He was blessed with many talents that allowed him to provide well for his family through his business, McCleery Sheet Metal and Roofing. He is survived by his wife, children (Terry (Carol), Michael (Violet), Douglas (Dawna), Randall, Jeffrey (Wendy Sue), Gregory (Roberta), Sherrie (Mark) West, Debra (Dale) Park, Cindy (Tom) Kvenvold, Mark (Tiffani), and Melanie (Norm) Haney), 40 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren with four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild on the way; also survived by his devoted brother Neal McCleery. Preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth McCleery (brother), Ruby Barker (sister), Deloris Litson (sister), and one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Dad loved to vacation with his family, work alongside his boys, and cherished his girls. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Care Source Hospice (with a special thanks to Yolanda and Francia). Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, Sept. 8th, at the Crescent Ridge 5th Ward, 10975 So.
