Elvin Archie (Red) Cole, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 1979 at Converse County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born Nov. 14, 1903 at Miller, Nebraska, the son of Eugene Enos and Hattie Jane Cole. He moved with his parents to Wyoming in 1918 and his parents homesteaded on Spring Creek near Esterbrook. Cole was a retired rancher, having ranched in the area for many years. He was an avid horseman, having participated in the Wyoming Stat Fair parade since 1925, doing so only last August during Wyoming State Fair. On August 18, 1925 he married Cora Jane Lees at Douglas. To this union were born six children, two sons, Lyle of Douglas, Stanley of Wheatland; four daughters, Bernice Hill, Betty Shelden, Norma Huxtable, Janice Steckley, all of Douglas. He is also survived by one sister Ada Christman, Stromsburg, Neb.; one brother, William Cole, Henry, Neb.; 28 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, three brothers and three grandchildren.
