I remember Uncle James (actually cousin - but the age difference was too great) as being one of my favorite Middletons. There was a time when he ran a gas station on Hwy 57 in Ludowici. Those are the years that come to mind when I think of him. His son Billy found him dead in the front room of his house; slumped in his easy chair. For all appearances he had gone peacefully.
