He was born April 22, 1934, in Farmersville, where he attended school. He moved to the Lubbock area in 1980 from Monroe, La., and married Shirley Tollison on June 18, 1988, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and owned CWA Tree Service.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, John Alexander and Randy Pickering, both of Lubbock, and Rick Pickering of California; a daughter, Sheila Hernandez of Midland; a brother, Dave Wisdom; a sister, Bobbie Mexia; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
