Leonidas Ferguson was born in Gentry County,
Missouri, the son of Eleazer and Elizabeth
(Clem)Ferguson. From about 1887-1891
"Jake", as he was known in his early years,
worked for the XIT Cattle Syndicate in
Tascoso Springs,TX. near what is now
Dalhart, TX. He then worked for a short time
with his half-brother, Will, in Iowa,
and that is where Bernice Dodge joined
him for their marriage on Feb. 23, 1892.
The family moved to Indian Territory (now
Oklahoma) where he owned a grist mill in
Bidding Springs. About 1920 they moved
to Fowler, CO.
Leonidas was in poor health for most of his
later years. He and Bernice moved to
Pueblo, CO about 1931 where they both lived
until their deaths.
