Lunsford was a son of Abraham Hudson, who was born in 1729 and d.6 June 1806. Abraham married Elizabeth Tyler, of Maryland, a woman of culture and refinement, said to be a cousin of the Russels of Maryland and also a cousin of ex-President Tyler. The Hudsons emigrated from England to America and settled in Virginia. When a child Abraham's nurse accidentally let him fall in a fire and one of his hands were severely burned and injured. His father, through sympathy for this affliction, willed him two plantations on the James River.The family were Espiscopalians. They lived for a time in Bedford Counry Virginia. About 1784 they moved to Greenville dist. SC and located a thousand acres of land on Rocky Creek. Their children were: Pleasant, Lunsford, Burwell, William, Obed Rhoda,m. Nathan Waddell, Jemima ,Nancy m. Phillip Evans, Hannah m. William Mason, Mary Elizabeth, Mathew Tyler b 15 Feb 1791. Mathew after nine years of woeing-married Ann Fleming Collins of Spartanburg District South Carolina.
