He was retired from Royal Crown Bottling Company and worked part time at Guilford Mills. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Rebecca Ione Collins; 4 brothers, Frank, Paul, Tom, and John and 1 sister Blanche Collins Washington. He is survived by 3 daughters, Jacquelyn Ada Collins Jenkins, Janice Dawn Collins Martin and husband Bill, both of Greensboro, Celia Juanita Collins Smith of Wilmington, NC; one sister Lillie Maude Collins Bonsall and husband Joseph Sloan Bonsall Sr of Philladelphia; 2 brothers Sidney Cairey Collins of Greensboro, and Lewis Collins of Roanoke Rapids, NC; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at Hanes-Lineberry, Vanstory Street Chapel and at other times at the home of his daughter Janice at 2800 Dexter Avenue in Greensboro.
