Death of Doctor Turner.
This community was shocked Wednesday evening when it was announced that Dr. Silas Turner was dead. He had been confined to his bed for several days with a disease to the liver but no one thought his condition at all critical or dangerous. Up till a few hours of his death his condition was thought to be better than it had been, but it isthought he took congestion of the brain which was the immediate cause of death. The deceased was 59 years old and came originally from Missouri. He had practiced medicine in this parish for a number of years and stood high in his profession. He was a consistant member of the Primitive Baptist church and was a man of honor and integrity. But as a liberal, kind hearted man, he was excelled by none. Those who knew him best said that generousity was his greatest fault. He was a kind neighbor, a good citizen, a man who bore ill will or malice against no one. Surely one of the faithful has fallen. If he had his faults let us forget them and extol his virtues. His devoted wife and children have the sympathy of the GUARDIAN.
