Senator Hoke Smith has the profound sympathy of his friends in the death of his wife, which occurred in Atlanta Saturday following a two weeks illness. Mrs. Smith was one of the four daughters of Thomas R.R. Cobb, the famous Georgia general, who was killed during the civil war while commanding a division of Georgia troops. On her mother's side, Mrs. Smith was a granddaughter of the late Judge Joseph Henry Lumpkin, the first chief justice of Georgia.
