Emma C. Behme & Robert H. Milligan were married on May 26, 1885 in St. Charles, MO. Shortly thereafter, the newlyweds moved to Michigan, Dakota Territory, where Emma's mother owned a restaurant having come from St. Charles, MO several months previous. Along with Emma's mother already in Michigan were Emma's brother and four sisters. The newlyweds heard so much about the great opportunities open in the Dakota's, so they came to seek their fortune.
The Milligan's were active and interested in every good cause in the community, devout to the church, good citizens and good neighbors. The Milligan's were early members of St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church.
The Milligan's had seven children – Annie, Alice, Emmet, Marie, William, Edward and Richard. They also raised their grandchildren Maurice & Thomas Robinson from the ages of 8 and 6, respectively.
Emma passed away on June 27, 1959 in Michigan, ND at the Nelson County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for some time.
Emma had five siblings – Henry, Mathilde, Ida, Anna and Marion. Bio primarily taken from Nelson County Arena(s) dated Jul 3, 1959 and Jul 1, 1983.
