Brice Hower Dies After Long Illness
Brice E. Hower, 34, of 609 Short street , lifelong resident of Decatur , died at 9 a.m. today at the Adams county memorial hospital. He had been ill for the last four years, and three years ago submitted to heart surgery at Lakeside hospital at Cleveland University .
Born in Decatur Feb. 19, 1928, he was a son of Carl and Ada Hakes-Hower, and was married to Nellie Nash, Oct. 14, 1947.
Mr. Hower was an employee of the General Electric plant here for 11 years. He enlisted in the United State Ary June 6, 1946, and received his discharge Feb. 14, 1947.
Surviving are his wife; five children, Thomas Edward, 13, Ricky Carl, 11, Pamela Jane, 8, Randy Lewis, 7, and Deborah Jean, 6; five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Georgia) Johnson, Mrs. George (Irene) Klinetob, Mrs. Joseph (Luella) La Turner, Mrs. Robert (Katherine) Mendez, and Mrs. Blas (Sarah) Mendez, all of Decatur, and four brothers, Joseph, Benjamin, Dale and John Hower, all of Decatur.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Zwick funeral home, the Rev. Gerald Gerig officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery, with graveside services conducted by Adams Post 43, American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday until time of the services.
