THOMPSON
Merle E. Thompson was born June 2, 1904 in Lucas County, Iowa to Warren and Pearl Hickle Wilson. She passed to her reward Aug. 19, 1978 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital in Chariton, at the age of 74 years, two months and 17 days.
Merle was married to Henry Lee Thompson in the state of Kansas. To this union three sons were born: John, Charles and Richard.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lee, and her son, John.
She leaves behind two sons, Charles of Eagle, Colo. and Richard of Rock Falls, Ill.; four sisters: Mrs. Hazel Smith, Chariton; Mrs. Lela (Keith) Andrews, Russell; Mrs. Margaret (Clell) Caylor, Chariton; Mrs. Dorothy (Russell) Burgett, Chariton; five brothers: Lindsey Wilson, Bloomfield, N.M.; Walter Wilson, Latimer; Dwight Wilson, Chariton; Lloyd Wilson, Chariton; and Glenn Wilson, Russell; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren plus a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
Merle was a faithful member of the Chariton Church of the Nazarene. Her prayers and faithfulness will be missed by her church.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Rohlmeier conducting. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
