He was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of the late Warney and Leona Cook Hopkins Sr. Mr. Hopkins was a lifelong farmer and had also worked in construction. He was a member of the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by six daughters; one special son-in-law, of Waverly; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother of Hillsboro; and two sisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Malone Hopkins in 1953; and five sisters, Ellie Sheperd, Myrtle Besco, Ruth McGinnis, Ruby Lindsey and Lillie Sheperd.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church.
