Sr. Sharon Schaefer, PHJC
August 12, 1917 - August 29, 2009

Sr. Sharon Schaefer, PHJC, 92, a resident of the Catherine Kasper Life Center in the community of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, passed into the hands of her Savior at 1:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009.

She was born the daughter of Leon N. and Amelia F. (Bushard) Schaefer on August 12, 1917 in Nicollet, Minn. where she was raised along with seven brothers and four sisters.

She would enter the convent on December 8th – the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in 1942 and professed her vows on June 25th, 1945.

Sr. Sharon received an M.S. Degree in Nursing that served her ministry in life as being a Nurse – Clinical Instructor and Director of General Education Training.

After retiring to Donaldson, Sr. Sharon served as a sacristan.

Surviving is one brother; Fr. Roman T. Schaefer of Donaldson, one sister; Aurelia Boettger, New Ulm, Minn and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will call from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm EDT in the Catherine Kasper Home Chapel on Monday, August 31st. The Mass of Christian Burial will held in the Chapel with Celebrants: Fr. Michael Winkowski, Fr. Jerry Schweitzer and Fr. Edward Konnerman SJ.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery on the grounds of Ancilla Domini, Donaldson.
