Fletcher, N.C. - Charlie Cole Buchanan, 88, of Buchanan Drive, Fletcher, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2009 in Elizabeth House Hospice.
He was born in Jackson County and was the son of the late Bragg and Gency McMahan Buchanan.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Birdell Buchanan and two brothers, Hampton and Wade Buchanan.
He worked as a logger for many years, a WW II veteran of the US Army and was a member of Long Shoals Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 Years Hattie Ingle Buchanan of Fletcher; a daughter, Colleen Anderson of Fletcher; two sons, Larry Buchanan and wife Debra of Marshall and Randy Buchanan and wife Jenny of Fletcher; two grandchildren, Jenna Buchanan and Virginia Harter; seven greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Erma Melton and husband David of Fletcher and Isabell Sutton of Waynesville.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Long Shoals Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Rearden and Rev. Rick Phillips officiating.
Burial will follow in Hoopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
