She was the daughter of the late George and Lottie King Cartratte.

She was retired from Townsend Chainsaw and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she was an active Vacation Bible School Volunteer. Mrs. Gilmer loved gardening and fishing.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Pauline Self and nine brothers and sisters.
She was the daughter of the late George and Lottie King Cartratte.
