David Arkin was an American actor, known for his numerous supporting appearances in Robert Altman films. These roles included M*A*S*H (1970-Staff Sergeant Vollmer: where he also wrote and voiced the public address/speaker announcements), The Long Goodbye (1973-Harry), in Nashville (1975-Norman), and in Popeye (1980- The Mailman/The Police Officer).

David Arkin was not related either to the actor Alan Arkin or Alan's son Adam Arkin (also an actor), his father was David I. Arkin. David G. Arkin was married to actress Anne E. Curry at the time of his death. He was known among his friends and colleagues for having introduced his friend Arnold Schwarzenegger (then Arnold Strong) to Altman, at the time The Long Goodbye was being cast.

Arkin took his life in 1991 at the age of 49 in Los Angeles, California.
