Arvid Bjornebo was born Sept. 26, 1913, in Cottonwood to Krog and Charlotte (Troseth) Bjornebo. He was baptized as an infant, and confirmed at Silo (Christ) Lutheran Church in May 1929. He attended country school. In June 1942, Arvid joined the U.S. Army. He received his honorable discharge in September 1943 because of his hearing. In November 1943, Arvid was united in marriage to Judith Broughton at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. To this union, two daughters: Janet and Jill, were born. Arvid worked road construction for K.A. Thompson and Sons, and also for the Lyon County Highway Department. Judy died in 1968 as the result of a car accident. In November 1969, Arvid was married to Jean Lovsness at Christ Lutheran Church. To this union, five more daughters: Julie, Jill, Jody, Jane and Jackie joined the family. Arvid was a member of the American Legion Post 503 since 1945. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, coin collecting, woodworking, card playing, and working on his lawn.
Arvid is survived by his wife Jean; daughters, Janet (and Milt) Stengel of Milbank, S.D., Jill (and George) Gerlach of Bellevue, Texas, Julie (and Gary) Surface of West Palm Beach, Fla., Jill Doom of Marshall, Jody Lovsness of Omaha, Neb., Jane (and Simon) Pate of Victoria, and Jackie Louwagie of Marshall; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Reishus of Granite Falls, Arvilla Berg of Cottonwood, Yvonne Johnson of Cottonwood; brothers, Leif of Cottonwood, and Morris of Oakdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Judy; sister, Hjordis; and brothers, Edwin, Fritjof, Harold and Kenneth.
