Robert Bennett Sr.
Robert C. Bennett, Sr., age 69, of 4400 La Salle St., Lot 133, Eau Claire died Friday evening, October 7, 1994 at his home after a short battle with cancer.
He was born November 14, 1924 in Eau Claire, the son of Dora A. (Edwards) and William Bennett. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1941. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during W.W. II, being stationed in England, Germany and France. He married Ellen E. Crandall on September 4, 1948 at First Baptist Church, Eau Claire. They resided in Eau Claire until moving to Chippewa Falls in 1977,where the resided until moving back to Eau Claire in 1993. He was employed at the Oak Park Dairy for 30 years and then was employed as a custodian for the University if Wisconsin-Eau Claire for nine years until he retired. He also had a Eau Claire Leader-Telegram motor route for 14 years. After his retirement he worked part time for Your Family Shopper in Chippewa Falls. He was a member of the Chippewa Valley Bible Church, Chippewa Falls and the Experimental Aircraft Assn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Pearl Anderson; four brothers, Lawrence, Milton, Jason, and Clarence Bennett.
He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Phephles, Chippewa Falls; Betty (Tommy) Rayder, Kingston, Tenn.; Cindi (Jerry) Schultz, Eau Claire; Sandi (Mickey) Preston, Wildwood, GA.; Lora (Hugh) Fleming, Onalaska; Colleen (Al)Sopiarz, Eau Claire; four sons; Robert C. (Vicki) Bennett, Jr., Eau Claire; Steven (Wendy) Bennett, Searcy, (Ark.; Curt (Chris) Bennett, Portage; Gordie (Penny) Bennett, Portage; two sisters; Aza Bergh, Mondovi; Myra Cripe, Eau Claire; three brothers; Dove (Ruth) Bennett, Obie (Lillian) Bennett, Ed (Carol) Bennett, all of Eau Claire. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren , many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Chippewa Valley Bible Church, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Andy Majorins and Pastor Roland Bergstrom officiating. Military graveside services conducted by V.F. W. Post 305, Eau Claire. Burial will be held at Rest Haven Gardens, Eau Claire. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and Tuesday at the church one hour prior to services. Bob loved his grandchildren, model airplanes and model trains. He was past president of the Eau Claire Aeromodelers Model Plane Club. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
