David Burson caught the measles, he was recovering, when he had a relapse. He was transfered to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. While there, he died from the relapse of the measles. He is buried in the Confederate Section of Oak Lawn Cemetery in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. George Washington Burson, Jr. gave a great deal of help to Susan in the rearing of her family and, as a result, the two families were very close.
