Son of Elihu Phelps and Charlotte Chamberlayne. Married 1st, Martha Adelia Bibbins about 1860 at Jefferson Co., New York. They had one child, Harriet Adelia Phelps. Married 2nd, Mary E. Calkins 1868 at Jefferson Co., New York. They had 3 children, Charles Chamberlayne Kingsley Phelps, Charlotte (Phelps) Gardner and George K. Phelps.

Rev. Chamberlayne Phelps, announcement of whose death was made in Tuesday's Times, was a son of Elihu and Charlotte (Chamberlayne) Phelps. He was born in Guilford, Chenango county, Aug 29, 1830, and died at his home at Perch River Oct. 6,
I908.
In his 20th year he was converted and entered the Black River conference of the Methodist Episcopal church in the spring of 1854, Brownville being his first charge. He
preached 44 consecutive years, taking a superannuated relation in the spring of ____
and making it his residence at the old familv home of his wife at Perch River. N. Y.
His many years of labor in the ministry were attended with great success He had the gift of eloquence in his discourse and the energy with which he labored nearly always resulted in great revivals on his charges.
There bad been a gradual failing of his vital forces for three years, but be was not confined to his bed until five days before his death, the end coming peacefully
Rev Mr Phelps was twice married. His first wife was Adelia Bibbias of Rodman. N Y , by whom he had one daughter, Harriet A. Phelps of Denver. Colo., who survives. His
second wife was Mary E. Calkins of Perch River, by whom he had three children. Dr. C. C. K. Phelps of Sackets Harbor, Mrs. G. W. Gardner of Butler, N J., and G. K Phelps Williamsport, Pa. all of whom survive him..
The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a. m. at the house and 10:30 at the church at Perch River. Interment at Sackets Harbor.
