Stanley Puzauskas was born in Lithuania, and emigrated to the United States at the age of 16. He served overseas during World War I with the #319 Field Artillery to earn his citizenship in the United States. He settled in Duryea, Pennsylvania, where he was a coal miner. In 1922, he married Magdalena Shupshinskas, and together they had one son, John. Stanley was tragically killed while at work at the No 6 colliery of the Pennsylvania Coal Company. After blasting had occured, he was sent into the mine to retrieve some tools, and was instantly killed by a fall of rock.
