"Died at West Philadelphia
Mrs. Ellen Major, a former resident of Ashley and of this city, died at her home In West Philadelphia Saturday afternoon. She was 74 years of age and the cause of death was general debility.
Mrs. Major was well known In Ashley and was highly respected. The remains were brought to Ashley and taken to the home of her son. Walter Major, on Main street.
The following survive to mourn her loss: Sisters, Mrs. Hannah Meyers, of Shickshinny; Miss Phoebe McKeel, of Kingston; Mrs. Mary Miller, of Indiana, and sons Walter and Oliver Major, of Ashley, and daughter Almira of Ashley."
