Lloyd Leroy Snyder, 88, of 442 Congress Hill Road, Franklin, died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca.

Born July 9, 1919, in Worth Township, he was the son of Glenn W. and Pearl Perrine Snyder.

Mr. Snyder retired in 1980 after working more than 35 years as head of the dairy department at the A&P Grocery Store in Franklin.

He was a member of the Congress Hill Church of God.

Mr. Snyder was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed watching the harness racing at the Stoneboro Fair.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, his family, camping and listening to bluegrass and gospel music.

Mr. Snyder attended all family functions and events.

He was married Oct. 14, 1945, to Ruth M. Marsteller, who died in 1988.

Surviving are five children, Dennis L. Snyder and wife, Carol, of Utica, John C. Snyder and wife, Patti, and Shirley Thatcher and husband, Charles, all of Franklin, and Darlene Plowman and Cindy Dutko and husband, James, all of Cooperstown; 14 grandchildren, Sandy Moore and husband, Abe, of Reno; Bryan Thatcher and wife, Denise, Eric Plowman and wife, Stacey, Mindy Snyder and Kayla Snyder, all of Franklin; Darla Plowman, James Dutko, Benjamin Dutko and Andrew Dutko, all of Cooperstown; Craig Plowman and wife, Peggy, and Stephanie Snyder, all of Oil City; Dennis Snyder Jr. and wife, Terena, of Albion; and Jason Snyder and Brittany Snyder, both of Utica; and 11 great-grandchildren, Dakoda Barnett, Austen Barnett, Courtney Moore, Brittany Moore and Eric Moore, all of Reno; Amanda Moore and Tori Snyder, both of Oil City; and Brady Thatcher, Bailee Thatcher, Ethan Plowman and Thomas Kistler, all of Franklin.

He also is survived by two sisters and their husband, Janet and Richard Wright of Cranberry Township and June and Lawrence Pessia of Bradford.

Also surviving are a special friend and her family: Betty Jane Beers of Franklin; her son, Jeff Beers and wife, Kathy, of Indiana, Pa., and their children, J.B., Lindsey and Rachelle; and her daughter, Rebecca Beers and husband, Bill Stienbacker of Ciccro, N.Y., and their daughter, Erin Shultz of Kokomo, Ind.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Snyder; two brothers, Walter and Gerald Snyder; a sister, Twila Hulon; and a son-in-law, Daryl Plowman.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Johnny Pennington of the Congress Hill Church of God, officiating.

Interment will be in Graham Cemetery.
