JOHN BARKLEY HORTON, SR. Sept. 30, 1932-Aug. 17, 2009 John Barkley Horton, Sr., age 76, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009 after a short illness. He was born September 30, 1932 in the Frisby Community of Wayne County, Ky., the son of Cicero Clay Horton and Mary Southwood Horton. On February 5, 1959 in Monticello, Ky. he united in marriage with his wife of 35 years, Letta Sue Alexander, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his children-Teri Horton (Kevin) Crabtree, Tracie H. Foster-New of Somerset, Ky. and John Barkley (Stephanie) Horton, Jr. of Faubush, Ky.; and daughter-in-law-Debra S. Catron of Richmond, Ky.; six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren-Casi Catron (Rodney) Todd of Science Hill, Ky., Jared Owen Foster of Monticello, Ky., Sydney Horton Crabtree of Lexington, Ky., Paige Foster (Elijah) Sexton of Monticello, Ky., Jordan Dyance Catron of Richmond, Ky., Emily Claire New of Somerset, Ky., Michael Hager, Matthew Jones, and Christina Allred of Faubush, Ky.; four great-grandchildren-Rheagan Todd, Rami Todd, Hannah Sexton, and Noah Sexton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by one son-Billy Michael Catron; one brother-Owen Haynes Horton; sister-Lula Florence Horton. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served honorably during the Korean War. Mr. Horton was a retiree of the Kentucky Cabinet for Human Resources, Employment Services. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Larry Butte and Bro. Daniel Richardson officiating. Burial followed at Elk Spring Cemetery in Monticello, Ky. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38. Donations may be made to the West Somerset Baptist Church Mission Fund or the American Stroke Association. Pulaski Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
