Elizabeth Lihue Northcutt was born in 1841 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. Her parents were Archibald Northcutt and Hetty Hogan. Elizabeth's nickname was "Lisa."

When she was about 16, Lisa married Josephus "Joe" A. Ballard. He was born November 4, 1829, in Tennessee. As the years went by, Lisa and Joe had the following children: Hester, Jinnie L., John Walter, Stella M., Sallie Bettie, and Josie (male). Joe died in Mississippi on February 21, 1870, when he was 40 years old. Soon after Joe's death, Lisa married H. H. Livingston. Lisa and H. H. had at least two children William "Will" J. and Mattie L. Livingston. Both of Lisa's husbands were farmers. Joe Ballard farmed in Tishomingo County, Mississippi; H. H. Livingston, in Acorn County, Mississippi.

At some time between 1880 and 1900, the Ballard and Livingston children as well as their mother Lisa (it is not known if H. H. Livingston lived long enough to make the move to Texas), migrated to Texas and settled in Hunt, Van Zandt, Kaufman, and Rains Counties.

Lisa died in 1900 and was buried in Howell Cemetery in Van Zandt County, Texas.
