PROVIDENCE, UTAH: Norma Olsen Hansen passed away on November 29,2003 at a Brigham City, Utah nursing home following a 2 year struggle from a stroke. She was 86 years old. Norma was one of God's special spirits. She is beloved by her brother and sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of the people in Providence who knew her.

Norma was born April 14, 1917 in Providence, Utah a daughter of Arthur L Olsen, Sr. and Leona Bitter Olsen. She resided in Providence for 84 years. She married Bruce Smith Hansen on May 19, 1937 in the Logan LDS. Temple. Bruce was the son of James E. Hansen and Annie Elaine Smith Hansen. Bruce passed away on October 6, 1984.

Norma was a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers, active in the LDS. Church and served in the Relief Society, Primary and Young Women's organizations. Norma was also a member of the Sheri Octa Women's Social Club for many years of her life. Bruce and Norma also worked in the Logan L D .S. Temple. She and her husband were key figures for years in organizing and cooking for the annual Providence 2nd Ward Sauerkraut and Turkey dinner to raise money for their church. She spent many years organizing meals for people in need.

She was an exceptional homemaker and was accomplished in all of the domestic skills including seamstress, quilter, gardener, baker, canner and cook. She won many blue ribbons at the County and State Fairs for her canning skills and quilting. She made quilts for-her children and many of the grandchildren with designs of her own making. Norma was a woman who reached out and made the world a better place to live and leaves no doubt in the minds of her family that they were the top priority in her life.

Norma is survived by five children, Karen (Parkman) Brooks of Ketchum, Idaho; Elaine (Dee) Andersen of Perry, Utah; James (Ginger) Hansen of North Salt Lake, Utah; Paul (Lynn) Hansen of Clearfield, Utah; Roger (Suzanne) Hansen of Providence, Utah. She has 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. She is also survived by a brother and two sisters. Arthur (Helen) Olsen of St. George, Utah; Florence (Stephen) Harrison and Afton Londre of Salt Lake City, Utah.

She is preceded in death by a daughter Deanna Reuillard, three grandchildren, Kevin Andersen and Arthur and Heather Hansen, as well as two brothers, Donald Olsen and Allen Olsen and one sister Dorothy Ewer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec 3, 2003 at 11:00 am in the Providence 9th Ward chapel, 309 South Main with Bishop Kent Dunkley conducting. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center in Logan and at the church on Weds one hour prior to services.
