Mr. Brooks first joined the United States Marines in October of 1928. He saw shore duty in Guam; Shanghai, China; Mare Island Naval Shipyard and Sunnyvale, CA Naval Air Station. He saw sea duty on the USS Chaumont and the USS Henderson. He was awarded the Marine Corps. Good Conduct medal and the Yangtze Service medal.
