Charles Lee DeVore -MT. VERNON, IL - Charles Lee "Chuck" DeVore, 95, of Mt. Vernon, IL died at 4:50 P.M. March 7, 2007 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born October 20, 1911, in Winchester, OH, to Joseph Washington DeVore and Dora (Kendall) DeVore. He was first married to Minnie Nunnelly and she preceded him in death in April of 1987. He later married Bernadine Legg Harrison.
Chuck was a retired Christian minister who had served many congregations, including Countryside Christian Church of Warner Robins, which he helped to found in 1972 and where he served until 1990. He also served as a Chaplain in the U.S. Air Force during WWII in the South Pacific.
A memorial service was held in Mt. Vernon, but an additional service will be held Saturday, March 31 at 11A.M. at the site where he will be laid to rest at Macon Memorial Park on Mercer University Drive in Macon.
Chuck is survived by his wife Bernadine Legg DeVore of Mt. Vernon; son. . . ; step-daughter. . . ; five grandchildren and several step-grandchildren also survive.
His parents, first wife, daughter Anne Lee DeVore, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
