Jemima (nee Stockton) Lattimore (c.1750-1821)

Jemima (nee Stockton) Lattimore was a daughter of Rachel (nee Allen) and Thomas Stockton, Sr., and a granddaughter of Davis Stockton (c.1685-1761) of Albemarle County, Virginia.

Jemima Stockton married Capt. John Lattimore II in Albemarle County, Virginia. They moved to the Golden Valley - Duncans Creek area of Tryon (now Rutherford and Cleveland) County, North Carolina.

Jemima and John Lattimore are buried near Polkville and Hinton's Creek, a branch of the First Broad River in what is now Cleveland (was Rutherford) County, North Carolina. Their Stockton and Whiteside relatives settled a little upriver near the Little First Broad River and the North Fork of the First Broad River in Golden Valley, northeast Rutherford County.

Kings Mountain, the site of a famous Revolutionary War battle, is just a little to the south of Golden Valley and Hinton's Creek. Several members of the Lattimore, Stockton, and Whiteside families fought the British at the battle of Kings Mountain.

John Lattimore is shown owning 281 acres in the 1782 Rutherford County Tax List.
