Mr. Zinkl was a native of Bavaria. He had formerly been a partner in Spigel, Carter, Zinkl and Herman. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Architectural boards of Virginia and North Carolina. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Santos Zinkl; two daughters, Anita Z. Unger of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., and Dolores Z. Davis of Norfolk; a son, August E. Zinkl of Norfolk; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A vigil will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church by the Rev. John J. Wagner. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements.
