Funeral services for former Seminole resident Mrs. Nettie McCluskey are scheduled for 2 p.m. in Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is to begin at 1 p.m.
Interment is to follow the services at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Nettie Viola (Hargis) McCluskey was 95. She had been a seamstress for Ann's Dress Shop for many years. She passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a short illness. She was born January 18, 1910, in Pauls Valley to John and Nancy Viola (Fox) Hargis.
Nettie attended Seminole High School and graduated in 1928. From the covered wagon that ran over her body and paralyzed her for months to the jet plane that flew her to greet new grandbabies, Nettie experienced life for almost a century.
The third born of six children, she kept up with two older brothers and cared for a younger brother and two sisters. She enjoyed participating in any sport the brothers would allow.
When her sisters fell ill, she mothered their children, Douglas, Charlene, Nancy and Wanda, as they were her own.
At times life was hard but she lived it to the fullest, always loving and protecting her daughters and grandchildren, and they in turn loved and honored their mother and grandmother. Life won't be the same without Nettie. We all remember listening intently to her highly-detailed and interesting stories of family, friends and life as she lived it. She had a keen sense of humor and a fantastic memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on April 11, 1984.
Survivors include 4 daughters, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
